Almost 30 years ago, the headline shouted, “History of Delta Reborn at Center!” It was Tuesday, October 30, 1990, when the Delta Cultural Center (DCC) first opened its doors— laying out the welcome mat for residents and visitors from throughout the Arkansas Delta and beyond!  Now, coming full circle, the Center will once again welcome guests to a virtual celebration in commemoration of 30-years as one of the Arkansas Delta’s premiere museums.

This long--awaited tribute will be live streamed at, Friday, October 30, at 1 p.m. Included among the special guests and speakers are Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson, former Governor Mike Beebe, Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism Secretary Stacy Hurst and Division of Arkansas Heritage Director Jimmy Bryant.

Nearly three decades ago, Gov. Bill Clinton dedicated the DCC’s first property as the holder of historic artifacts that would showcase the cultural heritage of the Arkansas Delta and its people.  Now, 30-years later, the Delta Cultural Center has expanded from one venue to eight public properties and historical sites. It now serves a 27-county geographic area up and down the Arkansas Delta.  For more information about this free online celebration contact Richard Spilman, DCC education coordinator, at 870.338.4350, or [email protected] Delta Cultural Center, led by Dr. Kyle Miller, shares the vision of all eight agencies of Arkansas Heritage-- to preserve and promote Arkansas Heritage as a source of pride and satisfaction.
