HELENA-WEST HELENA -- Delta Heritage Trail State Park will sponsor its annual Easter Egg Hunt for children on Saturday, March 31.

Admission and participation are free of charge and the public is encouraged to attend.

The event will begin at the park entrance near Walnut Corner community, north of Helena-West Helena on U.S. Hwy. 49, at 10 a.m. and will continue until all eggs are found.

Delta Cultural Center is also partnering in the event and will have representatives on hand to assist in the festivities.

Delta Heritage Trail State Park is a rails-to-trails conversion through the southeast part of the Delta, which is being developed in phases along the 73-mile former Union Pacific Railroad right-of-way from Lexa to Cypress Bend, northeast of McGehee.

The first four miles of the park trail, from the Helena junction to Barton, have been completed. An additional eight-and-a-half miles of trail are expected to be complete by the end of 2007.

For more information, interested persons can call the park office at (870) 644-3474, or e-mail deltaheritagetrail@arkansas.com.
