The Internet presence of the Delta Cultural Center at Helena has been recognized with the Outstanding Website Award presented by the Web Marketing Association.

The organization presents its prestigious WebAward annually to recognize the development of superior websites. The recently-announced 2006 awards recognized the international best in 96 industries in 33 counties.

"I am pleased that the Delta Cultural Center has been recognized for our efforts to serve the public and promote the center," said Katie Harrington, Delta Cultural Center director.

Entries in the competition are judged on design, copy writing, innovation, content, interactivity, navigation, and the use of technology.

“Judges from all over the world reviewed and critiqued some of the most comprehensive websites available on the Internet and the winners speak for themselves,” a spokesperson for the Web Marketing Association stated in announcing the winners.

The Delta Cultural Center website, located on the Internet at deltaculturalcenter.com, offers visitors an overview of the center’s facilities and services, an up-to-date calendar of programming coming to the center, features on current and up-coming exhibits, visitors information, a handy map to the Helena, Arkansas center for travelers, an opportunity to subscribe to the center’s newsletter, “Delta Currents,” a sampling of the center’s popular “Delta Sounds” radio show on the legendary KFFA-AM 1360, and links to other sites of interest.

“I love the Delta Cultural Center website because of the unique color and design style, and I think this award shows that people around the globe agree,” said Anasthia Johnson of Aristotle Design, the Little Rock-based firm which provides website services for the Delta Cultural Center.

The Delta Cultural Center shares the vision of all seven agencies of the Department of Arkansas Heritage – to preserve and promote Arkansas heritage as a source of pride and satisfaction. Other agencies within the department are the Historic Arkansas Museum, the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center, the Old State House Museum, the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program, the Arkansas Arts Council, and the Natural Heritage Commission.
