The Delta Cultural Center recently opened its latest traveling exhibition, Images of the South. The exhibition is on display at the Delta Cultural Center Visitors Center, located at 141 Cherry Street in historic downtown Helena. Admission is free.

Images of the South challenges viewers to take a look at the southern culture through the artists' eyes. The exhibition allows viewers to learn how the rich traditions of the South -- friendliness, influential music, spirituality, storytelling and closeness to the land -- are interpreted through artistic works. Selected from the Arkansas Arts Center Foundation Collection, these works ask the viewer to explore and contemplate what southern culture really is. Images of the South will be on display through August 8, 2006.

For more information, please contact the Delta Cultural Center at (870) 338-4350 or (800) 358-0972. The Delta Cultural Center is a museum of the Department of Arkansas Heritage.

The Delta Cultural Center shares the vision of all seven agencies of the Department of Arkansas Heritage -- to preserve and promote Arkansas heritage as a source of pride and satisfaction. Other agencies within the department are the Historic Arkansas Museum, the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center, the Old State House Museum, the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program, the Arkansas Arts Council and the Natural Heritage Commission.
