Songs From the Field
Tuesday - Saturday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
This all-ages exhibit tells the early story of Delta music from the field songs and field hollers, to the songs of the enslaved peoples of the Arkansas Delta. This story is the basis for Spiritual music, Gospel music, Blues, and branching even today into the modern music scene. The story of how slaves used music to transcend the oppression of slavery is told through text, photographs, sound effects, artifacts, and several interactive elements, making for a compelling experience.
