Additional Event Details

The Delta Cultural Center is hosting a series of workshops that allow participants a peek into the past to experience how folks lived and survived in days gone by.  The first workshop in the series, "Dutch Oven Cooking the Old-fashioned Way," opens Saturday, March 28, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This three-hour workshop is an outdoor event that will take place on the grounds across from the Depot Museum, 95 Missouri Street, in historic downtown Helena. It is open to the public and admission is free. However, registration is required and open now until 5 p.m., Thursday, March 26. Children under 18 years of age must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or another adult guardian.

Participants will have the opportunity to prepare two traditional Dutch oven recipes—beef stew and biscuits-- which they will dine on afterwards! Join Richard Spilman, DCC education coordinator, as he unveils the history behind the popularity of this early Arkansas Delta cooking vessel.

For more information about this workshop, or to register, contact Spilman at 870.338.4350, or [email protected].
