New Exhibit Features Rarely Seen Items

Delta Cultural Center - Wednesday, July 12, 2017

The Delta Cultural Center opened a new exhibit entitled, “Special Presentation: Out of the Dark and Into the Limelight,” on July 6 at the DCC’s Visitors Center, 141 Cherry Street. This special presentation displays an assortment of objects in the DCC’s collection that have previously lingered in storage. Many of these artifacts have not been seen by the public in recent years.

Artifacts are arranged together in four broad categories including trade and commerce, personal possessions, fashion, and artistic expression. Tags will identify what they are, where they came from, and what time period they represent. Beyond these basic contexts no specific explanation is provided to identify these artifacts’ historical significance. Visitors are encouraged to surmise these objects’ particular stories using their own memory and imaginations. Some of the more remarkable objects on view include Al Green’s performance outfit, an intricately crafted mosaic, a fur trade kettle, homeopathic patent medicine, and a giant cash register.
