New Exhibit Features French Photographer's Work

Delta Cultural Center - Friday, October 14, 2016

The DCC’s newest exhibit, screamin’ the blues, features photographs by French journalist, photographer, and blues lover, Francoise Digel. It captures blues musicians totally immersed in song, giving in to the raw emotions of the music. The exhibit will be on display at the Visitors Center from October 5, 2016 through March 4, 2017.
Digel’s introduction to blues came in 1998 when she saw a performance by the Queen of the Blues, Koko Taylor. Since that time, Digel has traveled the U.S., visiting cities and regions where the blues began - Chicago, St. Louis, Memphis, Mississippi, and Arkansas.
The exhibit is a multimedia show, built around a collection of photos of musicians gathered over a seven-year period of Digel’s travels in the United States and Europe. Through a dedicated website and QR codes, visitors can learn more about the musicians on their smartphones: discography, videos, and music samples.
